LeisureWorld Bishopstown raises money for LifeSaving Ireland
October 27th 2009
LeisureWorld Bishopstown has raised €1000 for LifeSaving Ireland. The Irish Lifesaving Foundation is a charity dedicated to reducing the number of drowning deaths, worldwide.
The main object for which the Company is established is to protect human life by the promotion of technical education in lifesaving, water safety and lifeguarding to the general public in Ireland or elsewhere. To promote self rescue, rescue, resuscitation and first aid skills.
LeisureWorld Bishopstown staff, who teach 1000s of students to swim on a yearly basis – held FREE FLOTATION classes and asked participants to donate what they could based on the following facts:
- Between 3 and 4 million persons drown annually - more than die from AIDS
- Drowning is the number one cause of death for children under 15 years
- Drowning is second to road traffic accidents as the cause of death for all persons (adults and children)
Speaking about the floatation classes – Craig McFadden, Duty Manger LeisureWorld Bishopstown believes that “ everyone who took part in the flotation classes learnt an invaluable life skill that they can use if they ever get into difficulty in water’
